This is a "thumb piano" that I made at home.

I made it out of: some wood, some plywood, 2 "bolts", 2 "nuts", a flat metal bar, some cocobolo wood, "carpenter's glue", and a rake's "spring steel" tips. I made the tips of the keys smooth by scrapping them against the driveway. (It was hard work.)

I used to play my thumb pianos quite a bit until . . . I got really sick . . .
so I stopped using them because I thought
that maybe the rake's "spring steal" had chemicals that made me sick.

Update 2: (update 1 removed)
I doubt this instrument made me sick, it's possible, but I doubt it.
For some reason, playing the instrument for an extended time makes me feel irritable, but I recently found that playing just a little bit in the morning improves my mood.
Kind of weird, I don't know why it's that way. Maybe it's just because I'm sensitive to sound . . . ?

  • @MWVgaming Thankyou!

  • Which metal did you use for the keys sticks?

  • @Karolinacherry Very tough and incredibly springy steel from a rake at Osh.

  • lol :))

  • If your worried about getting sick you could order an actual thumb piano, as far as instruments go they are pretty cheap

  • Lovely sound. I've been making these out of everything for the past couple weeks. I would like to ask you what you used for the metal bar and did it have predrilled holes for the screws? Thanks.

  • yeah, Zambaku, I have a real one. Their a little expensive for an instrument, but their sound is so awesome!
