"All out" Is't quite right either-you need to "budget" energy efficiently, so that the effort you sustain through the whole course is the maximum you can sustain; you bonk at the finish line. Just going all out increases likelihood of slowing midway and tapering off-the people that can plan their effort effectively are the ones that win.

For those saying "Go all out or go home". It's called negative splitting. I assume none of you have any real results or you'd know about this.
Additionally, TTing isn't just a gut check. It's a mental check. It's not uncommon for the strongest dude to NOT win. IT's the guy with the best pacing and position that often wins.

yeah, tting is a gut check. go all out untill you have nothing left, then go more.

Agreed, I thought I'd find some decent advice here, evidently it's not that great.
When I'm TTing I tend to go all out, all the way. I don't see the point of slowly bulding up if you've warmed up sufficiently before hand and you know you can sustain it.
