  • this is not the worst flood i have seen ihave pictures from 1977 of the nith half way up the coach and horses and these were from the standard i know they are right because my mother worked in there at the time.

  • Chopin piano concerto in E minor.

  • That's what happens when try to harness nature, look at New Orleans. Unless people are willing to take down the walls and car park and let it be "white sands" again, people are simply going to have to accept the flooding or be very upset whenever it inevitable happens.

  • This is ridiculous, the reason Dumfries was first settled was because it was the farthest south point at which to ford the Nith - the river is the only reason there is a town there. Where the old shops and houses where built where safe from flooding in their day, but since the river had walls built up it's banks well into it's flood plane, for the use of shipping from the mills, the water has no where else to go but over the wall's which are roughly at the same height as those shops.

  • another example of neglect,it pains me to see a once vibrant market town decline like it has,you could write a book about local council ,alas its too late to do anything about it,never mind we stil have a statue of a local womaniser in town to look up to

  • booo hooo

  • nice music

  • @charliebad

I am one of those people. My house was round the corner from these shots in St MIchaels street. This has been happening every year since they extended the town front onto the Whitesands flood plane 200 years ago. Its nothing new and every knows about it when they buy property here.

  • To these people it's serious, you can't compare, but to the vidmaker. These floods are the beginning, there's no stopping the river flooding from now on. Sorry :(

  • check out worldwide earthquakes since 1990. There were a few a year back then, now there's more or less one a day worldwide. Same equipment used. Wonder whats going on???
