Looking in to the brand new Yongnuo YN565EX ETTL Flashes. Can be triggered as a slave from OEM Canon or Nikon triggers. Some quirks to be noted. More here: http://cheesycam.com/yongnuo-yn-565ex-ettl-flash-quick-review/

  • Hey All,

Can you get a flash to go off when connected to Youngnuo's PC Sync Socket?

All my flashes are not working when connected to Youngnuo's PC Sync Socket.

No problem when connected to ATG Canon EOS-1D X IR's PC Sync Socket.

  • @angelisone The PC socket on the flash is an input to to fire the flash itself from the camera.

  • @MrCheesyCam Every Nikon flashes that have PC Sync Socket, including Nissin, work when you placed a flash with a pc sync cable to Nikon PC Sync Socket.

Every cameras that have PC Sync Socket is to be used for tethered flash with a PC Cable.

Do you have other flashes that have or need PC Cable? Try it-won't flash.

PC Sync Socket has to work (flash) when you pressed the shutter button, if not then you can never hook-up tethered studio shooting.

  • @angelisone I think you're original question is formatted incorrectly the. Are you trying to trigger another flash by using the PC socket of a YN flash? Yes, you can trigger a flash from the camera PC socket, but I don't think you can trigger another flash from the YN socket.

  • Thanks for the review. I see that compatibility does not mention the canon 5D mk1, will TTL work with a 5D or not?

  • @panchoskywalker Yes. will work.

  • I recently bought one of these and when cycling the zoom it doesnt seem to make any difference in the flash - ie. no noise made and i cant see the head moving inside. Does this mean my zoom is broken/doesn't work?

  • Will it work with Canon T3i? Good for my first add on flash?

  • if you are using the yongnuo st-e2 and 2 of these yongnuo flashes can you use the ratio function of the st-e2 or do you need canon? sorry i am fairly new to speedlights

  • @janankohler Yes.

  • Will this work with a Canon 600d? (fit the hotshoe?)

  • is this compatible with nikon D3100?!

  • Would like to know just how consistent the output is? Even a slight drop of a third of a stop is deal breaker.

  • @MrCheesyCam The 565EX II's PC Sync Socket is useless. My staff & students are using PC Sync for flash when some camera has no pc sync socket.

Have you used that sync socket or just stating that it has one :o(

No one is using to trip the flash when it can be done by "c, cn, S1 and S2"
