John Crieghton was an astronaught NOT an athelete. He was shot through a wormhole. Anybody..... Anybody..... oh well.
I bought an old novelisation of this and the Doctor was discribed THREE different ways! As Pertwee, Baker and even Davidson. Malcolm Hulke was really on the ball.

The only thing crude here is your disparagement of Catherine Tate's character, about whom you seem to have rather missed the point. Donna Noble starts out as a very shallow character. However, as happens with most of the Doctor's associates since Jo Grant, the time she spends with the Doctor opens her up to new horizons and makes her a better person.

SJS was and is a shining star of Dr Who. I'll always love this classy lady and the special quality she brings to TV.
