Hey dude you need to watch Pujols hit. His back foot comes off the ground. Also your hips turn the back foot. You power should always move with you when you stride. when your stride foot land you should be in a 50/50 position with your hands back in the launch position. Your hands should turn your shoulders, never have your shoulders turn your hands. So many young hitters are never taught how to use their hand properly.
actually he does squish the bug, but only for like a split second. squishing the bug helps when it comes to turning your hips. but once your hips are through the zone your foot should come up to its toe. you dont want to be leaning on your front leg. but in the middle of your swing the weight should shift.
There are plenty of major leaguers that DON'T squish the bug. Pujols, Rodriguez, Holliday, etc. The torque created by a good swing should naturally pull your back foot up to it's tip toe or completely off (like most pros). In a way squishing the bug restricts the natural swing. The only major leaguer I've seen do it on tape is Joe Mauer.
i really hope no kids watch this, its terrible.. your helping them in no way at all.. by the way maybe you should call Albert Pujols and tell him his stance is to wide for any power..
