By simplifying somewhat we can divide Esperanto speakers into different categories:
* "the idealists" -believe in Esperanto as an aid for future world peace
*"the hedonists"- who enjoy the international festivals and meetings
*"the language nerds" who given the chance will always talk about other languages
*"the activists"-who like to organize seminars, training sessions, internet sites etc.
*"the family focused"- who use Esperanto in their international families.
Of course many people belong to several of these categories. Which category do you find most appealing?

  • Mi povas paroli Esperanton iomete, sed praktike neniam uzas ^gin

  • @JasonDamisch Vi trovu aliajn esperantistojn proksime de vi, aŭ per interreto. Pli bone se vi povos iri al iu internacia kongreso aŭ aranĝo. Sukceson!

Esperanto was invented in the 19th century, and it's a beautiful language. It's a shame you need to post your uneducated opinions.

  • Very cool! I would like to learn it.

  • My father is into Esperanto, and I met several people in the club my father went to who spoke Esperanto as their first language, or along with another, when I was a little kid. I still know some of them. Esperanto has helped me form several lifelong friendships.

  • I consider myself a "language nerd" who considers the "idealist" portion as icing on the cake. (The only difference is that I don't use every chance I get to talk about other languages: only when It's relevant. ;D)

  • @mindw99 I see you're a cultist unable to handle dissent.

Everywhere one finds your negative comments based on useless speculations/pseudo-knowledge.

  • loool every guy having an accent while speaking Esperanto :D

i wanted to learn this language, but I haven't got enough time last years. Instead it, I have perfected my English. ;)

    Mi estas Hungara filo.

  • I'd call myself a mix of idealist and hedonist. There's something about a language that's meant to bring people together...

    Vivu Esperanto!
