Just a small video of me handling all of my LQ's in a row; not all at once. All five of them are in premolt. The fourth one (big guy) is especially fat and should be the first to molt out of the five. In case you're wondering, I don't get nervous when I handle them, as mine are not aggressive at all -- except during feeding and after a molt, and they're not in my hand at that point. My fiancee helped me out with shooting the video.

Enjoy!

I DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT, advise the handling of scorpions! Especially this species. If stung, this scorpion could kill you. Don't be an idiot like me and handle them -- thanks!!!

  • Damn, those are calm

  • @Hopper3513 yes, they are. but quite the opposite during/after eating and after a molt ;)

  • i hope, you have got an antivenin on your night stand, otherwise you are pretty insane... :)

  • @suopiskelija

Nope. They rarely show signs of aggression. Only when in premolt and during/after a feeding they'll show it.

  • The only reaction to handling this species I can think of is: "Why would you do so? What are you trying to prove / gain from it?"

  • I have been a professional zoo keeper in two states, and a keeper of venomous reptiles/arachnids since 1984. This is irresponsible, and extremely stupid. This is why local government agencies pass laws prohibiting the keeping of venomous animals. Please stop claiming to be an "expert", just because you have been lucky so far does not constitute expertise.

You'd be surprised that they can actually hurt you more an adult specimen. Scorplings to juveniles and this goes for tarantulas don't have a big control over venom glands, so they can inject more venom than a typical adult might do...For example the black widow spider can do considerable damage and it's only 1-1.5'' long

  • you really should not be doing that.

  • @Desertdweller7 Correction on what I just posted. (Though Leiurus22 is correct too) I was talking about Customtat7. Please take his advice as well as mine...xxx

  • @brandonjaeger

Leiurus22 is correct. I also am a Zoo keeper. And responses like you just gave him shows how immature and irresponsible you really are! You are sending wrong messages to the public, and putting people in danger Hon. Please stop...

  • @brandonjaeger

Oh but they do, and one day unfortunately you will be in for a surprise...I am an Arachnid professional at a Zoo, and I'm pleading with you to please stop. This is totally irresponsible, and shows how unprofessional you are. Very afraid for you and others that may try this because of you...

  • have any of these ever harmed you?
