Everyone loves food, but Univ. of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences Dean Allen Levine says there are very real, scientific reasons behind why people not only overeat, but choose certain foods to overeat. When the holiday season is approaching, it becomes even more evident that when given the choice between vegetables and sweets, many people will choose sweets. And in tests with lab rats, they too will often eat the filling inside the Oreo before the cookie portion of it. These habits can be overcome, with small tricks like smaller plates and more.
