In the early fifties, Sid Caesar's shows featured the greatest writing talent ever! - like Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart, Neil Simon, Danny Simon and Mel Tolkin. And the all star cast included greats like Carl Reiner, Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass), Nanette Fabray, and course - Sid Caesar himself.

This was my father's favorite TV show and one of his favorite routines. Having survived the holocaust because of his command of the German language, my father used to laugh hysterically at Sid & Howard's double-talk. Wow! what childhood memories of watching TV in our Bronx apartment this routine evokes.
"Schlippery frum der schliva" I remember the night this aired. Back then life was kind of hard for us kids and the laughs that Sid gave helped us escape the sadness for a while. God bless him.
