You can install any distribution of the Linux OS. Linpus, Mandriva (best), Ubuntu (remix is good), Fedora (better than Ubuntu) etc.
You only need to download the CD/DVD-image of those and use the universal installer to make a USB-stick if you want to do it from Windows. Or you can boot those as LiveCD mode and make the USB-stick from there and then install it to netbook or use external CD/DVD-drive.

the windows XP modal will run Ubuntu/xubunut/kbuntu. this net book computer has problems with audio and WIFI. I fixed the WIFI with a NETGEAR G USB Add on. then I installed the linux back ports "WIFI now works" yahoo! the linux forums helped me with setup.

which model did u buy, XP? im thinking of buying XP with 120 GB but im really interested in linpus. i can buy that and then download/install linpus linux, right?

Not bad. I'm downloading it for my aspire one. installed kubunut off a USB drive. every thing works but the wifi. I hope linpus works out.
is this for kids?
