Lived here my whole life, which isn't long to be honest, but it hasn't changed much since this video...
-
Thank you for this video. I am into genealogy and many family tree leaves and twigs were from Lochgelly and so many of the street names I have found in my searches. Really enjoyed seeing Lochgelly.

Hello,
No, the people I knew there when I lived in Lochgelly were the salt of the earth. Was shattered to see how much the town has declined - boarded up shop fronts etc - during my last visit there in 2008 - my first visit for 25 years. And you might like to know that as a non-German living in Germany you are ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS a second class citizen. Irrespective of what you can do you are treated as like something that has just climbed down from the trees.
-
So you live in Germany. Is that why you got out of the toilet that is Lochgelly? Hmm!!!
-
then go back to Lochgelly then if London, the capital, is a toilet. So why didn't you just stop in Lochgelly and stay.
-
This was a few years before I was born.
It's pretty much the same now, apart from the new Co-Op and flats, the Royal Bank being a private house and the post office moving to Main Street.
Also, the ex-serviceman's club in North Street has long gone, along with the bus depot in Auchterderran Road.
-
The Jube was still open too. Oh, How I miss playing pool and blethering drunken shite in the Jube on my dinner breaks when I worked in Firth Buildings on Auchterderran Road...
Good old days..!
-
The more things change the more they stay the same. Let's see... the Royal Bank then is a house now; there's a mini roundabout at the junction at Lochgelly center these days. I suppose main street will look really different nowadays with some old buildings flattened and new flats and shops going up.
Anybody notice the Co op is in exactly the same place more or less? Ha!
