"Relocating the Gopher Tortoise for Turkey Trot Landfill"

Here is a great example of smart and humane wildlife management. When Alabama's Advanced Disposal got the assignment to open a new sanitary landfill they sent in teams of wildlife biologists to take a census of sensitive animals living there. They ID'd the Gopher Tortoises and prepared an ideal habitat in a close-by wildlife preserve. This success story brought to you by Alabama Dept.
