(Honolulu, Hawaii — June 8, 2009) — The Wahine in Hawaii Business forum, set to take place Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in Honolulu, has partnered with local non-profit organizations to converge business and civic interests.

YWCA of Oahu, Aloha United Way, Girl Scouts of Hawaii, Hawaii Womens Business Center, Organization of Women Leaders, Womens Fund of Hawaii, Rotary International and Zonta International will be represented at the conference.

Central Pacific Bank and Bella Pietra are lead sponsors of the event. Other sponsors include Tahiti Pearl Factory, Tyrie Jenkins, M.D.: Eye Care, Bishop & Co., CU Pacific Audit Solutions, Olsten Staffing, Techniques Hawaii and Alston, Hunt, Floyd & Ing.

For the first year, Hawaii Business magazines Wahine in Hawaii Business has merged with the Junior League of Honolulus HerStory. Together, the womens conferences expand their focus to business issues and civic interests. The Wahine Forum is in its second year. HerStory is in its ninth year.

The keynote speaker for the forum is Peggie Pelosi, an expert in linking businesses with philanthropic ventures. Her book, Corporate Karma: How Business Can Move Forward by Giving Back, explores the ways companies benefit by partnering with philanthropic causes and acting socially responsible.

The Junior League of Honolulu is an 85-year-old organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
