A tribute song to Sean South from Garryowen, Limerick, who, together with a Co Monaghan man, Fergal O'Hanlan, gave his life in the cause of Irish freedom and unity, in a daring raid on Brookeborough RUC Station on New Years Eve 1957. The song was written by Sean Costelloe.
Taken from the 2010 Irish folk/rock tribute album 'Flight of Earls' by Andy O'Sullivan.

  • I was 16 years old when the hero Sean South was martyred for Ireland and for freedom. I had the honor of meeting him in the Post Office in Limerick city when I was a young boy. He spoke only Gaelic publicly. He was yet another murder victim of the English Crown. May his dear soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace!
