Poor planning, local corruption and the flaunting of EU environmental guidelines are turning Spain's coastline into a "deep ulcer" of urban development that is polluting beaches and poisoning the sea. In some places, the number of second homes is causing desperate problems for the local community. In areas where the locals can no longer afford to buy properties, the finger is pointed at outsiders with second homes.

well we all have to compete with foreigners buying properties in our home countries......what's the problem? I live in a part of England where 1 in 3 are immigrants and that puts pressure on the local resources but it's a fact of life.

@skidebbie The problem in Spain was the macro-urbanization of our coasts, just for selling summer and second houses to foreingers (and Spanish people too), it wasn't an immigration problem in fact (just by tourism), and the worst of all was the environmental destruction and the excesses, repercuting in our economy... :P
