Kent Police Authority funded a new marine boat in spring 2008 to protect Kent and national borders. The Authority made a commitment as part of the police council tax rise in 2007 to invest some £150k into a new marine boat - now used by Kent and Essex police forces. Ann Barnes, Chair of Kent Police Authority and Chief Constable Michael Fuller named the 53-foot boat Alexandra III in a champagne breaking ceremony. This is the first time Kent Police has had a marine boat since 1995.
Note that the official does not mention God bless her and all who sail in her.
