At the 2008 USC Alumni Association Leadership Conference, a superstar panel of faculty from across USC, together with one amazing student, discusses their academic work and personal experiences. With: Brent Blair, a senior lecturer in the USC School of Theatre who has trained therapists in techniques of applied theater arts to work with Rwandan genocide survivors; Elizabeth Currid, assistant professor in the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development, whose book The Warhol Economy examines why artists tend to conglomerate in big cities they can scarce afford to live in; Maja Mataric, senior associate dean for research in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, who also co-directs the USC Robotics Research Lab, which is aimed at endowing robots with the ability to help people; Geoff Wiseman, director of USC's Center for Public Diplomacy, who focuses on USCs critical commitment to fostering careers in public diplomacy; and USC student Clare Doody, who speaks about finding her academic niche as an American studies major.
