New Jersey has designated Linden as an official environmental justice community because it is so heavily burdened by pollution. PurGen, the proposed coal energy and fertilizer plant, will only add to the negative health and environmental effects these residents are forced to deal with. Please visit www.StopPurGenCoalPlant.org to learn more about how you can help stop this dangerous and experimental coal plant.
I grew up in Linden,N.J. Back then(1950s-60s),when i was a little kid,a bunch of other kids died from things like leukemia & "unknown-reasons"....it was very sad to have this reality be such a "normal" part of our "every-day-lives". Every morning when i delivered my paper-route the air smelled like rotten-eggs & the smog was thick(like in a horror-movie).As a kid, things that are awful are just taken in stride....to us that was "LIFE".....BUT...as other kids got sick & died, reality hit-hard.
