how much wattage could you generate with that?

100 watts is OK; 200 and above you need to be reasonably fit to maintain for any time.

awesome! the other day i was working out at a local gym, i was high...lol, but, i was listening to the exercise, bikes and oliptical striders, you can hear the energy being produced and lost....im glad other people have thought of this, what would happen if you connected this to a house?...imagine being able to stay fit and save money and the enviornment at the same time????

A fit person can generate about 100 watts on this system quite comfortably for some time - but that's only enough for one ordinary lightbulb. Much more than 100 watts soon gets tiring - and it would take about 56 minutes to boil a litre of water. However, running 10 machines in parallel gives a kilowatt, which starts to be useful. Maybe the gym could offset its electricity bill this way, and give the customers a discount?
