Knowing that two southbounds were on the way, I headed south for a shot I have attempted several times, but have just now gotten. The Chamblee Road crossing had the spot, on the northeast quadrant.
It was time to leave, and I had just packed up the camera and collapsed the tripod. After walking across the crossing back to the truck, I spotted headlights coming down the hill in Oakwood. Dashing back across the tracks, I did yet another of my miraculous setups, just in time for a train.
Southbound intermodal 221 showed up with a nice horn. Leading the train were NS SD60M 6801 with a lovely Leslie RSL-3LR, NS C40-9W 9071 (the only Catfish of the day), and UP SD70M 4373.
The EMD's kept showing up, and the C40-9W's stayed away. It made for a good day of railfanning that wasn't quite finished as of yet...
@RailroadExpeditions Yep. This and the field we caught 237 in are my southbound shots. Tree shot and the one you got staring P48 running lite down after it passed are my northbounds. Field too.
