....and in regards to Guitar Hero....Guitar Hero has a license for the music it uses FOR THE GAME only. This does give the player of the game the right to post it on YouTube. Perhaps that's in the fine print that came with the game (?).

Amen to that. I refused to buy a single CD or DVD for almost 2 years from anyone because of this kind of crap. I was buying a couple of thousand dollars a year prior to that. Guess the Eagles and Cass Country Music are off my list now. Real shame too because I really liked the Eagles. I see that the Eagles have also banned Karaoke of any of their songs. How stupid and short sighted can you be. Country music and Karaoke go together like bars and wet tee-shirt contest.

i got 3 videos removed - 2 by cass county music for eagles covers and 1 from Schott Music GmbH for Carmina Burana by carl orf.

I had 9 million views and my account (uncleparsnip) was suspended

So, at the end of the day, the YouTube copyright infringement issue is more about YouTube profiting off of other people's "stuff" than about raining on everyone's parade.

Cass County music is NOT the only publishing company pulling videos down. The material is not being pulled down to punish the fans.

Some artists welcome the publicity. Many artists use YouTube to advertise themselves. If they are promoting themselves using their own stuff, GREAT! If they are promoting themselves using material that does not belong to them, that is copyright infringement.

When you upload your video, it asks you if you own the material that you are posting. If you're name does not appear on the copyright to the song and you do not have a synch license, you do not have the right to post it. YouTube takes your word for it and allows you to post whatever you want. They bank on no one checking so that they can sell the ad space. YouTube makes MILLIONS of dollars off of the videos you upload.
