That explains it. It often takes until March or April before you get a nice consolidated snowpack like that. I used to do some pretty good mountain ski ascents on Spring snowpack back when I had more energy.

Talk about classic avalanche terrain and what not to do in it. Unless these folks have dug numerous snow pits on each aspect/elevation and verified the snowpack stabilty, then it is only a matter of time until these "mountain guides" have a catastrophe. BTW I spent many years backcountry skiing so am familiar with Rockies terrain/snowpack etc and the hazards of the mountains.

Good observation alan4sure. This video was taken on a late April snowpack. There was a lot of monitoring done and the video was taken in the morning while the temperature was low.
