1968 cadillac couope de ville Todmorden
"There is no replacement for displacement." This is often said by engine designers in their search of more power from a combustion engine. Though contemporary technology has offered a nominal argument when it comes to building high-horsepower motors out of smaller engines, trying to hide the fact that "bigger is better" was never more a challenge than it was in 1968. That was the year Cadillac introduced it's 472 cubic inch V8 into the DeVille line of automobiles, setting an even higher standard of "move out of my way or I'll suck you down my venturas" attitude of American life. Several years later, a 500 cubic inch V8 was brought to the public, but the Cadillac DeVille saw it's prime in 1968 with a body that measured 18.6 feet. This was big American steel.
