Some very interesting sounds here. This was Piers Hellawell's suggestion, and Jim was all to happy to oblige!

  • I have done this and many other conbinations while at a band camp.

Alto sax mouthpiece on a Euphonium works relatively the same.

a flute head joint on an alto neck and body works.

alto sax mouthpiece on a trumpet or trombone works as well.

we didnt have a camera with us so a video would be awesome.

  • @scomo115 Cool stuff - no doubt I will end up trying some similar ideas! Cool sounds - I wonder how they could be best put to use! It could sound gimmicky or contrived... maybe best let someone else try first.. I will stick to jazz :)

  • This is almost where the saxophone started in the first place: adding a bass clarinet mouthpiece to an Ophicleide.

  • @scomo115 Trumpet mouth piece on an alto neck or tenor has a classy sound. haha

  • So you've made a piston valve sarrusophone
