Sam Harris is an author and commentator on philosophy and religion. He is the author of the bestsellers "The End of Faith", which won the 2005 PEN Award for Nonfiction, and "Letter to A Christian Nation". Harris' writing has been published in over ten languages and has garnered attention from numerous media outlets and journals.

Sam Harris also makes regular appearances on television and radio to talk about the danger that religion now poses to modern societies. Harris was educated at Stanford University and is currently completing a doctorate in neuroscience.

Just read the Quran and you will find it is full of violence, including words like Jihad, Infidel and Fatwa. Mohammad himself was a murderer and was known for beheading his enemies. He was a pedophile marrying a 9 year old girl and the Quran accepts stoning young men and women to death.  This is not a religion of peace or rationality.

@mrstonig Dude, you are so right. I hadn't heard Harris talk about this before, but it is worth talking about. It is obvious that the injustices heaped upon the Palestinians pale in comparison with what has happened in Tibet.

Another point worth noting, compare and contrast the Dalai Lama and Yassir Arafat.

As an atheist I do not agree with any religion, but surely it is plain to see that I should not treat them as if they were all on equal footing.

I wish that Sam would call for withdrawal of U.S. support of Jewish occupation of Palestinian land along with condemnation of Islam. America shouldn't be involved at all in that train wreck.

There is no moderate islam, the concept defies reason and anyone who has read the literature must agree. There are only muslims without the balls to live by the contents of the evil magic book koran!

The book that I have by my bedside is Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruenwald. It has more likable characters than the Bible.

Are you sure that the Tibetan occupation is only as brutal as the Palestinian one? From what I've seen the Chinese are far harsher on the Tibetans than the Israelis are on the Palestinians. I could be wrong, but aren't the Chinese forcing Tibetan children into labor, and haven't they had forced starvation of the monks, whereas Israelis only set up road blocks, force inspections, and shoot people who throw rocks and broken glass at them.

his analogy is far from absurd.

while there are 5.5 mill tibetians, there are only 4 mil palestinians ( in the west bank and gaza ), 5-5.5 mil if you add israeli palestinians.

1.2mil tibetians were killed, 15k palestinians killed in the last 63 years combined! (inc. wars).

yet you see palestinians suicide bombing attempts all the time.
