I completely agree with you. Although this is very well performed you can tell that most of them have probably never listened to any Béla Fleck and aren't all too interested in it. It's kind of a weird arrangement too...

what is up with the lame audience reaction!? -you people suck! okay, so I can understand if they didn't want to clap too hard because they may have only been cheering on their son/ daughter but c'mon, this is a rad piece and performed very well. nice interaction throughout. good job!

This was not a concert but an adjudication. The people in the "Audience" were parents and chaperones. It is not an appropriate atmosphere to hoot and holler approval. This performance was evaluated on technical merit by the judge, so while a smile or 2 might have been nice, they were not being judged on their "outward performance"
