why not just legalize the drugs so people do not go to Christiania for them? Make them only okay to use in privacy of your own home. Take away the stigma, tax the drugs and monitor them.
@DerAntimensch They BUY their services from the state of Denmark like other people do. I don't think they are trying to be self sufficient. The point about Christiania is that it is a place for 'others' and every society needs a place like this.
I need to ask a BIG favour of all of you who are passionate about Christiania as it passes an incredible 40th year. I have long wanted to make a sympathetic film about the community and was lucky enough to save some money to video it on 26/9/11. I hope to be able to visit again in 2012. It's a long time scale because things cost money even on a tiny budget. See my first film 'Amsterdam, but go to Friesland for New Years in Holland...' on my channel for more information. Thanks for the link.
Lovely place. But the thing is places like this can't exist outside of an already working system. Basicly these people are living on others backs. Where do they get their electricity, fresh water, or medical care from? What about the materials for their bikes? And don't forget someone has to transport them. They can only live like this because someone is doing the unpleasent work elsewhere.
The Goverment doesn't understand that what Christiania is doing is saving Denmarks ass, without Christiania only half as many tourists would visit Denmark.

@noergaar This is very true. Part of the reason we visited Copenhagen from the U.S. was to see Christiania
