#1 Gene

I WANT THIS SONG PLAYED AT MY FAREWELL PARTY. BUT I DONT THINK SHE WILL BE THERE.

Any man who has been betrayed by the one he gave his heart to can relate to this song. We focus on the men who cheat but remember for every bastard that cheat there is a bitch. lol

omg!!!! alan brings tears to my eyes......

I too think of Gene Watson first when I hear this song, but I have to say Alan Jackson did a really great job. I don't call it stealing either. In fact, Gene Watson was not the first person to ever record this. Little Jimmy Dickens recorded it, and it was written by Lawton Williams.

@ki4cif sorry got to disagree, i hear this song i see gene watson. just an opinion
I don't think Alan was trying to "steal" anything. He made an album performing his favorite country songs, because he wanted to pay tribute to those who inspired him in the first place. If you think it is trying to "stral" the song you are ignorant. Besides, I don't think Alan is in need of stealing hits, he has plenty of his own.

Someone wrote that Gene Watson's version "is so sad it can bring a tear to a glass eye." Alan Jackson's version is very good, but a clear runner-up to Watson's!
