Walk On With The Duke... I love this song. It's a shame it never went anywhere. Listen to that top tenor.. That's soul!

  • Found it only under the Dukays as Niteowl.

  • That's probably the same record

  • This is kool, never heard it before! My favorite by Gene Chandler is "Check Yourself".

  • Wow, PJ, I never knew that Gene did a sequel to The Duke Of Earl. This is so very cool. I'll have it playin in the car in no time flat...

  • CRUIZIN LOW AND SLOW WITH THIS JAM...IN MY 68 IMPALA LOWRIDER...MODESTO CALIFAZ 209

  • Good to hear this one again. Great tenor backup singer. Thanks

  • An interesting note is that the name Gene Chandler is a combination of the names "Eugene Dixon" and session guitarist -and member of the Sheppards- "Kermit Chandler" from "Duke of Earl"

Earl Edwards, an original member of the Dukays, helped write and originally conceived Duke of Earl from his personal point of view, so one could say that he was the original 'Duke of Earl' In any case, Eugene Dixon became Gene Chandler

and he alone is credited on the record, the DuKays sadly faded away.

  • Talk about the impact of a song - Gene Chandler's next three releases after "Duke of Earl" were attributed to the name "The Duke of Earl" - also, there was a group called The Pearlettes who released "Duchess of Earl" -
