PixelOptics have developed glasses that can change their optical properties at the touch of a button. They even have a tiny accelerometer inside so they can switch automatically between reading and distance settings.

  • @BuckMarley in a 4:20 video no less

  • @roidroid Or maybe completely erase the use of binoculars

  • the endocet effect!

  • I need this cause my eyesight is getting shittier every year.

  • amazing you couldn't tell them apart from regular glasses.

  • my god we are in the future......

  • This is awesome, i wonder if people realise how truly important this tech is. It could revolutionise the camera optics industry.

First example off the top of my head: Phone cams will now be able to analogue-zoom, while still being solid state.

Imagine how many applications this will have in robotic vision, with the ability to change the direction of gaze in 7ms without the use of any motors (just with refraction). Can motorised robotic cameras do that?

Imagine what it could do with lasers.

  • Cool

  • If i see these in LensCrafters sometime this year, im buying them lol.
