  • hi, if i may...in some sports/exercises i do i am told to breath through my nose, keeping my tongue on the roof of my mouth....i know its really tough stuff, and you know far better than i, but it looks like you lose some control when you mouth drops open to breath(jaw-neck-shoulders perhaps)...some real inspiring workouts, keep em coming, do you have anything anywhere about nutrition? thanks

  • From a Russian Sports Science standpoint (Dr Nikolai Buteyko and Dr Vladimir Frolov), high intensity, breathing should be "through as many holes as possible" (nose and mouth), and exhaling hard through the mouth.

  • It's the same, when you run, you have to exhale hard through the mouth...

  • @topstot That technique is normally offered as a way of avoiding statin through the neck....have you had problems with this before?

    By putting the tongue on the roof of your mouth it makes it very difficult to recruit sternocleidomastoid which in turn makes it lesslikely you will strain the neck.

    If you don;t have a problem with neck strain then there's probably no reall need to follow this technique.
