Here's another little medley. Again, thanks to my friend, Loc (tienloc47), for shooting the video.

Well, it's a little bit of "Lover Come Back to Me", a little bit of "Avalon" and some other bits along with plenty of tricks and licks thrown in to this pot of spicy 'Chicken Pickin' Soup'. Enjoy. :)

  • pgmrforlife " lover come back to me"

    avalon..my arse

  • Oh, it's just a medley of the two; Avalon starts @ 1:23. =]

  • i wish people would quit bitching about the sound quality and the "treble being set too high" who cares. enjoy it for the amazing talent. Hell who knows he may have wanted that kind of tone?

  • Yeah, a lot of people seem to hate his tons based on this video, but the truth is it sounds great live and the quality of the audio recording on the cheap camera is what made it so bad sounding. He sounds amazing live though. It's kind of funny... Half say, "He sounds terribly", half say, "He sounds amazing! See him live!" A few even have and then they come back hear to post about how great he sounds live and it really is just the audio here that got messed up. :P

  • live doyle is absolutely amazing. i met him and bought a T5 at one of his guitar shows and he signed it and played it a bit for me too. when you meet him he is the most happy and laid back guy ever. made such an impression on me. i totally recommend seeing him live he is insanely good at the guitar.

  • definitely not human.

  • @Enofrappini Nonsense. The idea that just because a player has chops somehow indicates "no heart" is so tiring at this point. Guitarists are always measured by such lame parameters. Check out his other vids playing ballads.

  • @lumberjackphil ; Great point. Let me add the fact this may NOT have anything to do with Doyle's settings, and may have everything to do with circumstances it was recorded under. Myself, I feel fortunate that Youtube has introduced me to literally hundreds of pickers, and players I would have never known about without Youtubes forum. Last...Anyone who feels the tone, tune, or taping is beneath them----TUNE OUT !! ----

  • thats tricky

  • .....VERY talented guitarist....but it's coming from his head, not his heart....

  • @Jer1400 ; Great point !!! I'm just old enough to remember life before the internet & YOUTUBE. I'd like to have temporary access to the way back machine--for you youngsters a reference to Mr Peabody from the Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, I'd say the mid-eighty's is far enough back. If you wanted to hear a Doyle Dokes or better yet see him play, you could just wait until he comes to your town-whenever that might be, or buy his record. The moral of the story---just cool it whippersnappers !!

  • Chet once said that Doyle Dykes was the only guitarist he would pay good money to see. Now I'm convinced that Doyle and Tommy Emmanuel are the heirs apparent to carry on Chet's style to future audiences who have never heard his and Jerry Reed's style of music.

  • Awesome! I agree that live is a treat!

  • Blown away !!

  • soul is subjetive u cant arguee about soul on a simple video
