Lycopodium spores are thrown in the air and a candle flame ignites them. These spores come from the cone of a primative, lower vascular Bryophyte.

  • This demo is totally awesome! I have seen it done a number of times during botany labs. However Lycopodium is not a bryophyte. It is part of a group of plants that are referred to as the fern allies, because of their relatedness to ferns.
