The North Carolina Sealed Corridor Program is an ongoing effort aimed at improving or consolidating every highway-rail at-grade crossing, public and private, along the federally-designated Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor (SEHSR) that runs through Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte.

Here's an idea for an alternate barrier device. Install a catapult under the grade crossing that flips a car off the tracks if it crosses while the gates are down, preferably landing it upside down.
