  • Wow, look how close the mousehole is to the rotary. Our rigs were so big we had a camper trailer set up between the rotary and the mousehole. It took two days to tail the pipe that far. We drilled 46 miles deep and our 30 foot joints were 50 feet long. We worked harder, faster, and longer than anyone in the history of the oilfield. Our toolpusher yelled louder, cussed more and fired 49 people everyday.

  • man coming from a west texas roughneck who is out with a pretty bad injury commitment to our rig is the satisfaction its alot of hard work but at the end of the day we feel like we really achieved something ask any roughneck they will tell you the same

  • @shmoab I freekin' hated it while I did it, and miss it when it quit me..I didn't quit it. Hell I'm a registered nurse, and still look back on those days fondly..maybe because my youth was so wrapped up in the oil field. it's like an illness, once you've done it, you're always a roughneck deep down.

  • @floatpool LOL.......

  • my hat goes off to you roughnecks out there godbless all of you

  • I never had such satisfaction as working on a rig, and unless I go back, probably never will again.

I stare longingly on the road that used to take me to work, dreaming about the good ol days. I see it, reminisce for a second, then smile. Life was never so good as that. I think about it as I think about a good friend who has died. A pain in my chest and it's hard to swallow. Hopefully I'll take that familiar road again.

  • Work that shit, men.

  • Damn right.

  • Tough way to earn a paycheck, God bless'm

  • Hard work and long days that's what a true roughneck is. I bet you all love the oilfield and probably wouldn't do anything else. I have a big circle of roughneck friends and most of them wouldn't trade the oilfield for anything dedication and hard work. Love ya all.
