  • Roper, have you ever seen her live, been in the same room with her when she played, or experienced her personality? I have, and I can assure you that her playing is by no means empty.

  • This is the cadenza from the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No 1.

Any Orchestra Flute player would be waiting to make the most beautiful entrance after such a wonderful cadenza as Ms. Wang has just played

  • @flutedivo nothing more than an intrumental interface!

  • @Haeronthegreat You make a tragi-comic comment. Charles Dutout is one of the great conductors of our times, with Karajan, Mazur, Ozawa, Temirkanov, and Jansons. He has to make sure she plays with a little bit of musicality which otherwise would not be there. The Tchaikovsky is not the most difficult concerto (compared to Rach 2 and Rach 3) and it requires musicality from the soloist, failing that you get a computer-generated performance :-)

  • @freeqwerqwer small hands?!

her hands are the only part of her body that is not petite. i've seen them in person, they are huuuuuuge.

  • @AbramCortinas true that! yuja wang is hotter ;D

  • @Haeronthegreat Do you know who Charles Dutoit is? He has had a long and very successful career as a conductor already. Dutoit was the husband of - and regularly performs with - Martha Argerich who you might have heard of ... Anyway, it was YW's debut with the BSO and some motivating gestures should always be welcome in such a situation.

  • I think it's amazing that she can play such difficult literatures like Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff concerto with small hands. She is near the height of Vladimir Ashkenazi and Alicia DeLarocha who all stand under 5'.

  • GOD DAMN ASIANS!!!!!!!!!

  • @AbramCortinas really who then ?

  • @sal50811 something i composed when i was 3

  • Have to ask what the conductor thinks he's doing - this is a cadenza. You know, where there's no orchestra. That's sort of the point. You don't need to tell artists more accomplished than yourself how to play, mate.
