ethnically Japanese and Korean are closely related to Chinese than Taiwanese
but culturally i would say people in China,Vietnam,Japan,Korea,Mong
ol,Taiwan etc all share similar cultures , customs or food just like European people. I don't
think at the moment China will stop putting their pressures or invasion on Taiwan.
But in the end they still have to face the truth so 2 nations will make compromise.
French is a mix race as well but they won't call themselves Germanic or Latin.

not only the older generation who call themselves Chinese , people who came
to Taiwan after 1949 due to an their China's civil war will have stronger Chinese
identity just like some Chinese people in South East Asia .If they were moving
to Vietnam for decades you wouldn't call Vietnamese as Chinese . And not many
people know that more than 88% of Taiwanese are ethnically Austronesian but
since Taiwanese are a mix race so we call ourselves Taiwanese.

@dmid123s5 your country's official name is the Republic of China, but as you know its only the older Generation who call themselves Chinese, but its the younger population who call themselves Taiwanese
