Rod McKuen ~ LOVE`S BEEN GOOD TO ME ~ McKuen.

Rod McKuen rose to prominence during the 70s because he invented a brand of poetry that was easy to understand. He wrote many, songs for well-known singers who recorded them. Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand just to name a few, but scores of others I will bring to mind later. Frank Sinatra recorded a whole album with just McKuen songs. McKuen published scores of books of poetry that sold millions. He also did some movie scores that added to his popularity the most popular being "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie" altough some literati dispute that he could be called a poet. The years following the 70s McKuen developed clinical depression that he said, "almost killed him". He dropped from the scene up until the end of the 90s batteling depression. After he was cured of his depression through a lot of help, he made a comeback in recent years being in demand for concerts, writing more books of poetry and teaming up with Jacques Brel, the well-known French singer/ performer who died recently. Brel`s death was a big blow to Rod, but Rod McKuen is very much alive, busy, and has his own website.

  • @Scout4Me1 AHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA

  • I never heard his version before - the best, hands down. @rongenman - love your comments.

  • What an unbelievable artist

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! I like Glenn Yarbrough's version of Rod's "The World I Used to Know" better, but this song is perfectly, thoughtfully done by the artist.

  • I still have my mothers in albums, nice to hear online!!!!!!!!!!! FABULOUS!!!

  • Beautiful song , beautifully sung by the original

  • one of the best song writers of all.we need more writers today that could write beautiful lyrics and melody thanks rod

  • this is one of my favourite songs of all time

  • Great track....... Terry

  • ROD MCKUEN does not do a good job singing this song he is the best, PERIOD !!! He sings it better than Johnny Cash and better than Frank Sinatra. A man that writes his own song and then sings it knows the real meaning of what the song represents to him. Thank you so very much for posting this song
