@AlvordMining I would not trespass on any active claim. I know the location and I was on public land.

@davidsquall351 it's a way to extract placer gold from gravel/dirt when no water is present. type it in. there are some videos on youtube of people dry washing;-)

It's right on the BLM website. Alvord Mine is an open "rockhounding" location. You can't put a claim on it.

how do you know your on a active claim?

@desertdreg Cool...What is dry washing?

Mr. Alvord Mining, typical of all the other assholes who are stupid enough to file a claim. I've been "claim jumping" for almost 40 years now with no problems. This aint the Wild West anymore and you don't own shit! So take your critter cams & shove 'em up your ass, that is the pieces of them as I smash every one I find! As for having the right to shoot me, you'd better be quicker on the draw fuckhead 'cuz there's a lot of holes out in that desert.

Hi and I've seen a lot of your vids. I have been to some of those places. Alvord is fun explore. But if you like agates, try Afton Cyn, following the river bed east and south or better from ludlow go north, you'll collect many varieties-moss & plume. I live in the west san gabriel valley, and used to know the guy worked for LA Co W&P about 10 years ago he took me to Santa Anita dam and we went fishing; caught about 50 15-18 inch wild trout. They had hooked jaws-we let them all go.

@MrGreg433 Yeah Afton Canyon is great. I go there for Bighorn sheep. If you camp at the blm afton camp and get up at sunrise you will have a good chance to see them. I've seen them every other time.

Great place, but watch out for assholes who think this is their land and you are trespassing, like you're claim jumping. If you go up to the top of the ridge there is a gated shaft and you'll find some agate and jasper. And if you keep going north near the border of the army base there are some jasper deposits. And if your really lucky like I was you'll be greeted by army helicopters and a couple of A-10s. Down on the flats with some walking along the alluvial there is some nice palm.
