Hey to anyone out there watching. I am making a big career change in just a moment. I want to work as a Cabin Crew (Flight attendant) - the problem is do i choose domestic or international?

PROS OF DOMESTIC- Nice relatively short flights, Still based in Sydney, Still get to see family/friends/
I get to see Australia.

CONS OF DOMESTIC - May get boring quickly, less pay, harder to get international.

PROS OF INTERNATIONAL - I get payed better, i get to see the world.

CONS OF INTERNATIONAL- Much longer tiring flights, away from family/friends.

What should i do? What would you do? Any advice? Tips? I'd love to hear it.

  • Hey mate. You should fly Virgin Blue for domestic for a year or two then go to V australia which is owned by virgin blue. Definately dont go with jetstar or qantas their crap.

  • Man Jetstar just offered me an interview. I think i should just go yeh? Start anywhere kind of deal? I know Virgin is ideal for me but i have been waiting for months! :-(

  • Dude u cant be fussy on who you work for. Take what you can. Its not easy to get in trust me....... Have you applied for any?

  • I got lazy on looking lately. Qatar airways was hiring/interviewing the day i found their job advertisement, sadly i viewed the ad a few hours too late :-(. Its a promising sign though that cabin crew positions should be coming in soon.

  • How has your search for change gone mate ? ; )

  • Virgin are "hiring soon" prior to this they said they had nothing, so i am being patient and getting mentally prepared, within a coupla months i am sure. :-)

  • if ure still wondering.um.. INTERNATIONALLL!! the two r so incomparable! ull see nothing new in aussie ull just fly across desert, whilst on the other hand u get to see the world working internationally. i would have loved to do it, but i dont think its very suitable for females nway.

  • Well I started at 19 fly for jetstar and do both domestic/international get the best of both worlds!

  • @flightie777 u are a load of bullshit! FYI Jetstar have bases in Asia who are recruited by Jetstar Mainline thou employed by Valueair! Also we have Japanese crew based in Australia who r direct employees!

  • With the economy at this stage fly for Either Qantas/Jetstar you will have definate job security! The qantas group has just realesed thier profit for this financial an yet again one of the only airlines in the world to make a profit!Virgin are spending sooo much money lately even thou they lost so much last year! And they have no fall back!

  • @thejetstarjump I have worked for QF but only on the ground. The ones that you are talking about( if they were Moslems) they were hired prior to 9/11. QF hires some asians because they need native speakers. Also FYI , QF hires contractors through a couple of agencies..those people who are mainly asians, are NOT hired by QF..they are on those agencies payroll ..Do u understand now..smarty pants!

  • @flightie777 White Australia Policy? You are so full of sh1t. I worked for Jetstar and I can tell you we had people from all over the world. In fact there is a Bangkok and Singapore base with no white people. In my ground school I had people from India, Phillipenes, Japan and even a guy with the first name Mohammed which should dispel your idiotic notion that arabs don't get hired. Don't spread stuff on public forums that make Australians appear racist or bigoted.

  • My cousin worked for Emirates for 8 yr without domestic experience. She absolutely loved it was stationed at Dubai, was constantly in and out of Lebanon. However, in the end she missed her family although she had holiday leaves to visit her family occasionally. But the experience was worthwhile. Also youll be a company priority seeing that u can communicate in Arabic.

  • In the end I really hope that everything does work out for you and hopefully it will. Its also important to do what you feel is right for you and what makes you happy. Stay positive and be happy! :)

    I hope that helped! :D

  • Hmm I know you uploaded this video like a while ago so I dont know if you still need any advice or not haha

But I think that you should take one step at a time and not rush into things. If you were to go to international then maybe things would change for you too soon. I also agree that you should try Virgin Blue so that way you could gain some experience and see how things are for you before moving up to something bigger.

  • apply to both, and see who replies first....
