Red Bull Access All Areas Valencia. Tous Dam

None of the skaters could visualize what was going to occur during that day in Valencia.
They knew about the Red Bull Access All Areas project; they knew about the city; and they imagined the typical photo-shooting around the urban spots that Valencia has among its nooks.

They soon erased that idea from their minds. The very morning of the 4th of December (skaters are normally not used to get up early), they got into a car and gobbled the first traffic jam to get the way out of the city. After 70km of boring trip leaving backwards the buildings, the beach, the noise, the cars they started to get into orange trees plantations, small villages and scrub mountains area, up, up, up, down, curve, pathways and finally a yellow fence with a clear message: No trespassing, restricted area and then, the story started to flow

They came over the barrier -as one normally attempts when sees that kind of advices- and founded a couple of rusty trunks with their skateboards inside. Then they quickly started to downhill the asphalt way to the Tous Dam, unfortunately famously known due to catastrophe occurred in 1982, when the containment wall broke down and flood a small village called Alcira. More than 32 people died.

The new Dam of Tous is currently a giant water barrier. It is one of the most interesting structures built in Spain. We spare technical explanations, just mention that it counts with a big overflow channel with the pure shape of a half pipe, including platform to jump out of the structure. This was probably the most exiting spot as the guys enjoyed after the downhill and long bridge (170m) on top and between two towers of more than 90m each one.

Everything was immense and two spots more were waiting for them during that short day that they named like a dream. The rusty elements of the old construction served as toys, and formed part of an improvised skatepark designed specially for them and their tricks. This texts will never reflect the enchantment of the journey and the magnificence of the pics and movies.

But all good things must finish sometime At dawn, we should leave the spot and return to our regular lives, to regular world Where normally, the second after you step on a dam with your board, 1.000 security guys will kick you out
