On October 10, 2006, at approximately 10:40 p.m., an 82mm mortar round, fired by militia forces from a residential area in Abu T-Shir, caused a fire at an Ammunition Holding Area (AHA) at FOB Falcon. The AHA, containing tank and artillery rounds, in addition to smaller caliber ammunition, set off a series of large explosions. No injuries were officially reported by military officials. Looking at the aftermath it's kind of hard to believe that there wasn't at least ONE injury suffered. Conspiracy theorists will have you believe that hundreds of Soldiers were either injured or killed because of this incident. Some even claim that large military transport planes with the Red Cross emblems were seen taking off from the FOB the next day. I can attest to the fact that this isn't true. I was stationed at FOB Falcon for the duration of my second deployment to Iraq. A landing strip doesn't even exist on the FOB, just a helicopter landing pad. And military casualties aren't medically evacuated within country on planes, they are transported on rotary wing aircraft, usually UH-60 Black Hawks. My point is that while you shouldn't always trust what officials report you should also be skeptical of the crazies with tin foil on their heads. Watch the video, think for yourself, and form your own opinion.

  • thanks for posting Jon. was def a memorable time in all our lives

  • At the beginning of the video I'm inside my hooch putting some clothes on and grabbing my equipment. We woke up and ran to the bunker. As soon as we realized the situation I ran back to my hooch. We all knew it was going to be a long night. turned into a long week. That's a picture of me at the end of the video standing in front of the burned down wreckage that was my hooch and what I was standing in at the beginning of the video.

  • This is my video, I made this about a week later when the power was restored. The Fire Dept. we'd had originally burned to the ground and we took shelter in the old Medevac quarters by the Heli-pad for a few months.

  • Was there when this happend ( was behind the guy filming the footage on the roof where you can see the door being blown open ). Was back there in 09 and saw that they still aint repaired the wall. Was pretty interesting night. But now I know the date, I could never remember it. . .just that it was in October.

  • wow I was there 04-05. Looks like you guys filmed it right on top of the barracks where I lived. How close was it to golf gate?
