I like the points you bring up. From what I've seen of Google Wave I can confidently predict that it will at least replace the current instant messaging providers out there, though email will most likely take more time to phase out, just because it's been around for 40 years.
I have no doubt, however, that Google Wave will strengthen as many connection tools (Blogger, Flickr, etc.) as it does replace them (IM, email, etc.) Hopefully Wave will help to make the internet one, collective place.
