The Actuated Workbench was my Master's project at the MIT Media Lab. We began with a tabletop tangible interface that used RF sensing to detect the positions of objects on the table surface, and added actuation by embedding a grid of computer-controlled electromagnets beneath the table, to move objects around on the table surface.

Dude, that stuff seems awesome. Very impressive. I can see its use in military mapping, tracking vehicles etc. But i just cant stop thinking of the possibilities with real time strategy games!
