Transport Jacknife dec 23 2010 near boys in red accident site.Bathurst NB

Transport Jacknife near Boys in Red Accident site,Icy Roads ! not sure if truck was climbing hill or desending but appears lost it coming down crossing the highway putting trailer in on opposite side of highway?
Good thing no Vehicles were climbing the grade towards miramichi!

I noticed that they straightened alot of it,was just like the matepedia in the early 70s before they took out all the hills and turns!

Yeah it is very hilly through there

@tjmfishing Its actually about a 1/2 km +- grade not sure the % but You enter and start to accelerate going up or slightly braking all the way down. When looking at it in both directions you would not really think its very steep at all,probably what makes it a dangerous area?

Yeah I know that hill well, we have passed it a lot over the years.

Out of all of the stretches of highway we travel in NB (Cape Tormintine to Mirimichi, Mirimichi to Bathurst, Bathurst to Campbellton) the Mirimichi to Bathurst is by faf the most boring.

@tjmfishing very dangerous stretch of road! trucks brake coming down and spin going up ,make a slick sheet either way!

@drc35ca I would say that's it. I don't know if you have ever been on the Gaspe but the road through Nouvelle used to be the worst. Narrow, no shoulder, steep grades, winding turns. A few years back they replaced the last bad section. It was really neat because the new road went right down the middle of the ole road, and with the trees cut out , you could see the new road going right through the center or 6 S-turns one after another. That old road was best compared to a rollar coaster.
