Guess what. The FLDS support child brides, arranged marriages, blood atonement and what they call "bleeding the beast." All those lovely wives and children that you allege these "husbands" are supporting? They are all on welfare and food stamps. And that welfare money? Goes directly to the church. What about all those young women forced to marry older men ? I am not a Mormon but I'm related to some and they have told me things about some of these groups that makes my skin crawl.

But there is often mostly the same amount of men and women, don't let the statistics fool you, since it doesn't take the age into account, women live longer, so of course there might seem more of them in total, but at a given age level, it is more equal. More importantly, your precious polygyny works only when females are in majority, but polygamy works all the time, no matter the gender ratio.

@Petfal You're totally correct, I used to feel so against polygamy, until I realized that society is so filthy with fathers who slink around with women, never marrying any of them, and never supporting their children.

Probably... if they misunderstood it, and thought it was about having relationships where they didn't need to be that involved. But then they are more like single monogamists sleeping around than polygamists/polyamorists.

There are conditions that don't involve what Anotheronem describes in his or her very last comment. To some men poly would be about sex but thank God women in America have equal rights so even if the man wants poly, they wouldn't get it unless the women also wants that. But, poly can also be practiced out of loving more than one person, and to where even the woman wants it. I've already explained to Anotheronem that this ADULT CONSENSUAL poly, is a combination of social and romantic intimacy.
