  • CON is pretty much equivalent to ''THE''.

    Con cho = the dog

    Con gai = the girl

    Con trai = the boy

CON also means anybody that is the age of your son, daughters, nephew etc...

  • @nanciiiee: this is the northern dialect. you seem to have the southern one.

  • I don't know, maybe its just me, but I find it sort of funny just hearing her say it. I mean I speak fluently in vietnamese but it's just funny. Lol, but hey, I learn how to say tiger with a different word, I normally just say con cop.

  • @dee1195 try to translate this...con gái tôi có một con mèo con. Con mèo con này là con của con mèo của bạn tôi. :P

...in a family, a person also expresses him/herself "con" to parents, grandparents, elders... like "I" or "Me" in English. Exception....a road/street (con đường), a river (con sông), and a knife (con dao) since they arent animal...lol

  • @dee1195 In Vietnamese...the word "con" itself means small, young, animal, and children. we use the word "con" with all animals, including human (con người), boy (con trai), and girl (con gái) all that the word "con" comes first...when the word "con" goes after it means young usually for animal. For example, "con mèo" means cat and "mèo con" means kitty.

  • why do they all start with con
