  • How good would you say it is for a 20 year old like me, to shoot my Srpingfield XD .45 Tactical 5 Inch Pistol from 50 yards away and hit the target board more than twice? I can't wait till I can go out and practice more.. I want to be a good Marksman, but also good at Self-Defense with a gun in order to reduce or prevent damages encase a real situation occurs.

  • @VulcanXL That would depend on the size of the target and the number of shots you took. But if you want to be a practical pistol shooter I would do most of your practice well inside of 50 yards. Get conssitent groups at 7 yards, then 12 then work on 2 shots quickly on a 5x8 card, then switch it to a 3x5 card etc.

  • Very cool video. I approved the VR of course. What are those targets.. I would really like to get into something a little less expensive.. Under 100 sounds good to me, and those sizes seem fine.

  • @noBuzzkillin look at arntzentargets(dot)com that where the targets came from, we made out own stands

  • It would be helpful if you noted the distance to the targets in the various setups.

  • @turbo2ltr Good point, I usually do that when I am shooting rifle but not pistol. I guess I assumed that people could tell. Anyway, unless otherwise mentioned (like the 25 yards at the beginning) I shoot paper at 7 yards and the steel between 10-12 (minimum safe distance.)

  • Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

  • Excellent video. Slow smooth draws, (not fast but smooth) Excellent follow-up shots. Reloading was excellent as well, (I try not to look away from the target during the insertion of the magazine into the well.) You did very well with the target acquire issue, while maintaining situation awareness. The firearms were obviously well tuned, and taken care of. As Bill Jordan would say "There are no second place winners"

    Kudo's.......

  • @Dragoon444 I have tried this and agree. It's just a matter of me getting used to it. Kind of smacks of shooting "homie" style. Bit extending the firing hand out at about a 10-20 degree angle from upright makes one handed shooting better, even if its just more comfortable.

  • I've found when one hand shooting it helps to hold the iron sights a little to the side you'll have less recoil jump. For example instead of holding the sights at 12oclock position have them at 11 or 11:30 it seems to help for me it's worth a try.
