Saifa Bunkai - From Performance To Application

This Video was a class project and as I'm sure you can tell, was not filmed professionally :-)

The idea of this project was to record the process of taking the performance of the kata through to a free application of the principles in combat. Obviously in this instance we chose the first section of the kata Saifa.

We hope you enjoy watching and if you have any feedback (constructive please) then please feel free to offer your thoughts.

Well done to everyone involved, not only do I hope you understand the first section of Saifa better but also how to look at other sections of kata in a similar way, how to look within the methodologies the creator of the kata gave us and find the principles that make the method work... as a wise man once said:

"Learn methods and you will be tied to those methods, but learn principles and you can create methods of your own!"

This was not penned in any way in relation to kata or karate, but I feel this is an excellent way to view kata.
